I was born in Toronto, Ontario, to South Korean immigrant parents. I grew up during the 1990s in what was then known as tthe City of Scarborough. Since childhood, I’ve always had a fascination for the built environment and public transit, and even drew pictures of TTC trolleybuses in my daily journal in the first grade.

I I attended the University Waterloo, where I earned two bachelor’s degrees, one in Geography and another in Mathematics. During this time, I spent my co-op terms living and working in various parts of the province including southwestern and eastern Ontario. I have also earned a master’s degree in Planning at York University, where I conducted research on bicycle parking provision in multi-residential buildings.I have since explored exemplary transportation systems in my travels to various cities around the world such as Amsterdam, Seoul, Berlin, and New York..
I now live in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood with my daughter Jayme (born 2021), wife Jessica (since 2019), our pet Shih Tzu Digsy.
